King George VI died aged 56, after a long illness, with his funeral being held at Windsor Castle. Cleveland disc jockey Alan Freed organised what came to be recognised as the first rock ‘n’ roll concert. The NME (New Musical Express) went on sale in the UK for the first time, and Ian Fleming published his novel ‘Casino Royale’ which heralded the arrival of secret agent 007, aka James Bond.

CHARACTERISTICS

Colour

Nose

Oak.

Palate

Honey, lemon citrus, light peat and wood. Robust floral notes.

Finish

More dried fruits (raisins) than on the nose. Peat smoke is still evident.

Treacle toffee, cloves and prunes. A classic expression of a well aged first fill, Spanish oak sherry cask.
